About
I’m Dee, founder of Tamilly Dance and I’ve been belly dancing since I was 17. I started dancing, because I was at a very low point in life. I had experienced injustice and didn’t see the point in living. I wanted to find something to distract me, apart from my job. I’ve been wanting to dance for a long time but was scared. It was totally out of my comfort zone but I gave myself one last chance to try it.
I went to my first class thinking that this wasn’t for me and that I was going to quit. But I was left surprised. As soon as I stepped into my first class, I was hooked. The smile I didn’t see in a very long time came back and I started to feel happy again. It was as if my inner child had woken up. Belly dance had woken up something inside of me that I didn’t know existed.
I wanted more of it and made it my mission to take as many classes as possible. I took part in classes at Fleur Estelle Dance School and performed in the termly showcases.
I watched myself grow in confidence and become more comfortable in my own skin. The more I danced the more my self esteem increased.
I was so in love and still in love with the beautiful dancing that I decided to train further with Amora Shams in Spain and Egypt gaining a UNESCO Level 3 Qualification in Belly Dance.
Fast forward today as a full circle moment I am now part of the Fleur Estelle Dance Company’s troupe and have performed solo gigs too.
I hope I can share the joy of belly dancing with you and can bring the sparkles to your party.
